Protect Training are proud to introduce our enhanced Close Protection training course which will allow
you the opportunity to obtain the UK SIA licence.
The course is delivered over 16 consecutive days and incorporates 150 guided learning hours, the
course is progressive in its nature and provides the student enhanced reflective learning. We aim to
cover the theory behind each module and protection as a whole before progressing to the practical
aspects. Each module leads to the next, starting with you as an individual protection operative and then
building on the elements of team work.
Subjects covered include:-
• Roles and Responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative
• Threat Assessment and Risk Management
• Surveillance Techniques
• Venue Security Operations.
The qualification comprises one mandatory unit: Working as a Close Protection Operative.
During the course you will be involved in practical exercises and at the end of the training phase you will
undergo a full day live exercise. This level of assessment is unlike many other training companies in that
you gain a true picture of the corporate world and how the principal sees you as a protection
operative.
This accredited qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry
Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA ‘Specifications for Learning and Qualifications for Close
Protection Operatives’ and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for
an SIA licence and work as a close protection operative.
Individuals achieving this qualification can progress onto a range of qualifications such as the
Foundation Degree in Protective Security Management.
Individuals successfully completing the licence to practice qualification in Close Protection can be
awarded 16 credits towards this Foundation Degree and also the Foundation Degree in Crowd and Safety
Management and the Certificate in Terrorism Studies.
