Licensing Law in England and Wales states that any person authorising the sale of alcohol to the public must hold a personal licence.

The need for a personal licence is not specified by the type of business but rather by the actual sale of alcohol. Thus hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, bars, cinemas, supermarkets, off licences, restaurants and any other business will need a personal licence holder if the business sells alcohol.

Anyone wishing to hold a Personal Licence must apply to their local authority after obtaining an accredited Licensing qualification.

The BIIAB & the HABC National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders is both QCA accredited & Government approved and has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.
