A free upgrade to ‘security practitioner’ Level 2, can be offered dependant upon availability and eligibility.
The Private Security Industry Act requires all personnel working within the Security Industry to be licensed by The Security Industry Authority. This nationally recognized qualification is the industry standard and enables a Door supervisor to apply for a licence to practice.
as of 1st september 2010 there is now a new format for this course. the new Qualification now consists of 4 units:-Unit 1 – working in the security industry

Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor
- Behavioral standards
- Civil & Criminal & Licensing laws
- Searching
- Arrest
- Drug Awareness
- Recording Incidents & Crime Scene Preservation
- Emergency Procedures
Unit 3 – Communication Skills & Conflict Management
- Avoiding Conflict & Reducing Conflict
- Defusing Conflict
- Resolving & Learning from Conflict
- Applying Communication Skills & Conflict Management
Unit 4 - Physical Intervention
- disengagement (defensive) skills
- Escort & Holding Skills
The course duration is 36 hours. Teaching methods will include discussions, group exercises, video observation and scenario based learning & worksheet tasks.
There are 4 examinations one for each unit. Each examination for modules 1, 2 & 3 has multiple-choice questions. Unit 4 will consist of [practical exercise & a question and answer examination.
